Candidate Background Checks: What’s Legal? What’s Not? What’s Extra? And What Should We All Be Doing?
Jerry Nielson, President and Founder of TruDIligence, will discuss current trends with regard to conducting employment background checks. This session will be an open discussion on an applicant background check lifecycle. We’ll discuss legal requirements under federal and state law, the disclosure and release process, different types of searches to consider, what’s in the report and how it can be used including the adverse action process.
Jerry Nielson is the president and founder of TruDiligence, a Colorado based consumer reporting agency specializing in background checks and applicant screening services for the employment and tenant screening markets. Jerry earned his AA in Business Administration from the Colorado Institute of Art in
1990 and subsequently founded TruDiligence in December 1993. With a background in customer service and retail security, Jerry quickly recognized the opportunity to launch an Applicant Screening Company. There was a substantial need within the business community for quality information and a lack of reputable companies able to fill the market’s demands and thus TruDiligence was born. Jerry is responsible for the day to day functions of TruDiligence. He oversees the Operations, Compliance, Sales and Customer Service departments and provides a vision of integrity unparalleled within our industry. While not involved at TruDiligence, Jerry enjoys spending time with family and friends, gardening and going on walks with his chocolate Labrador retriever.
