When S#!% Happens: Healthy Ways To Deal With Fear

We’ve all received ‘that call’: lawsuits, charge-backs, threats, yelling through the phone. Sometimes it’s for a completely valid reason, sometimes it’s for no reason at all, but regardless, you are on the receiving end of a terrifying conversation and the way you handle yourself could drastically affect the outcome: both of the conversation and the future of your business. This panel will feature veteran agency owners and staff members who are no strangers to ‘five alarm fire’ scenarios and feature tips on how to keep your cool, choose your words wisely, and weather the most disastrous situations that could befall your agency.

Biography

After moving to Maryland in 2009, I had the amazing opportunity to interview with The Nanny Network, initially as a sitter, and then months later I joined the team as a Placement Counselor. In 2016 I switched roles to become the Recruiting Director. In 2019, after 9 years with the company, I am now managing the day-to-day operations as the agency’s Executive Director. The Nanny Network and I are a natural fit, having assisted children and parents for over 20 years. Coming from a large extended family, with many older and younger cousins, I’ve always been intrigued with a child’s development; so much that I studied Human Development and Family Resources at Illinois State University. While in college, I worked with a nanny agency as an on-call sitter, after-school caregiver, and a substitute teacher in various child care centers. This was my first experience with a nanny agency, and I was attracted by the level of professionalism.

My prior six years in customer service, combined with my child care experience allows me to work closely with our clients and caregivers. My time working in a large day care setting has also helped in arranging and organizing group child care for special events. Currently I reside in Towson with my husband, our two children, and cat. I’m a huge Chicago Cubs and Bears fan, originally coming from the Chicagoland area.
